Valve Cover
1Remove the ignition coilsReplace packs if damage or corrosion is found5Remove the four fasteners securing the scavenge pump to the bedplate
23Remove the valve coverInspect cover gasket, and spark plug hole gaskets for wearIf gaskets are in good condition, replacement is not requiredAssembly is reverse of disassemblyTorque fasteners to specifications listed in beginning of chapter
BedplateScavenge Pump
123Remove the engine from the engine compartmentRemove the fasteners that secure the bedplate to the lower crankcaseCarefully pry the bedplate away from the lower crankcase
NOTE: The scavenge oil pump is not serviceableInspect the pump by rotating the drive gear in both directionsMotion should be smooth and never bindInspect each rotor tip for abnormal wearReplace pump assembly if rotors bind or show signs of abnormal wear6Prior to assembly, clean the crankcase and bedplate mating surfaces7Apply thin bead of Three Bond 1215 to the bedplate mating surface8Assembly is the reverse of disassemblyTorque fasteners to specification listed in beginning of chapter
