ENGINE Oil Pump Operation and Troubleshooting
Any time the engine is disassembled or repaired, it is important that the oil supply from the pump to the engine be checkedNOTE: Banjo type or pressed in valves should open with to lbsof pressurePerform this test with 40:1 premix in fuel tank1With engine in chassis, oil reservoir full, and pump bled, remove two oil feed line banjo bolts (A) from their location on the manifold or carburetorsNOTE: Install new sealing washers upon installation on either side of the banjo check valve2Loosely thread only the banjo bolts back into the manifold or carburetors3Place oil feed lines with their check valves away from the clutch areaStart the engine and let it idle at normal idle RPMBanjo 4Lift oil pump control lever up to its maximum flow position5Drops of oil should be visible from the banjo check valves after the engine is idled one to two minutes, with drop occurring approximately every few secondsPressed
