ENGINE 9Inspect water pump weep hole for signs of leakage or blockage10Remove crankshaft seal from housing by driving seal to inside of housingReplace seal if removed11Remove water pump cover bolts and then remove impeller nutSlide shaft out back side12Inspect bearingsReplace if necessaryReplace mechanical seal using the special tools listed belowUse the seal press to install new mechanical seal in cover with spring sleeve toward impeller housingInstall seal guide over end of shaft and apply light film of grease to seal guideCarefully install shaft and bearings in coverAssemble 10x14mm washer, impeller, washer, and nutTorque impeller nut to 10 ft.lbs(14Nm)Water Pump Mechanical Seal Installation Tool700800 domestic engines: 8.9mmPN 2872389
