REAR SUSPENSION 21Fill the shock body and the reservoir 12 full of Walker Evans 5w shock oil22Apply thin film of oil to the IFP O-ring and floating wear band23Compress the wear band as you install the IFP and Allow as much air as possible to escape as you install the piston24Screw the IFP tool onto the floating pistonIFP TOOL PN PS45908

25Hold the reservoir as low as possible and slowly cycle the IFP up and down to purge air out through the main shock cylinderBe sure to bottom out the piston in the reservoir bodyAllow time for bubbles to dissipate and repeat the process until all air is removed26Set the IFP to the proper depthRefer to illustrations for the shock you are working on27Fill the shock body to level just below the threads (A)
28With the cylinder head assembly (B) pushed down against the valve piston (C), dip the piston assembly in shock oil29Carefully, insert the piston rod and valve assembly into the cylinder; slightly oscillating the piston rod to allow piston to enter shock body bore and purge airSlight up and down movement may be required to allow all air to pass through piston assembly30Slowly push the piston rod and assembly into shock body until the threads can be engagedNOTE: During installation, some shock oil will overflowWrap shop cloth around shock body to catch possible oil overflowFast installation of the piston rod and assembly may displace the floating piston from its original positionThis must not occur if the damper is expected to perform as designed31Tighten the cylinder head on the shock body securely32Check to be sure IFP is still at the specified depth33Install reservoir end cap and install snap ringCharge shock to 200 PSIClean shock of oil residue and check for leaks34Install button screw in reservoir cap
