ELECTRICAL Detonation Elimination Technology (D.E.T)
The 2003 800 RMK Vertical Escape is equipped with detonation sensor that monitors the engine and responds to detonation by automatically reducing the engine timingWhen activated, the "DETONATION FLASH" indicator (A) will flash in the lower right-hand area of the tachometerThe activated sensor reduces engine detonation by retarding the ignition timingThis results in decreased engine RPM and performanceThe detonation system is not always effective at sensing engine damaging detonation and protecting the engine under hot ambient conditions or conditions where the CDI box temperature is elevatedUnder these types of conditions it is especially important to follow the jetting charts for temperature and altitude that are recommended for your engine
D.E.TTROUBLESHOOTING
Use this chart to determine causes and solutions for detonationIf none of these conditions exists and the sensor remains activated, see your Polaris dealerPossible Cause Poor quality fuel Improper jetting Improper engine modifications Solution Replace with higher quality fuel Verify and adjust per jetting chart Do not modify the engine
