Refer to Figure for this procedurelAOn models equipped with an external chain tensioner, install the tensioner arm assembly (Figure 9)Apply Loctite 242 (blue) to the threads of the stud in the drop case housingTighten the shoulder nut to 6-7 N.m (4-5 ftlblBOn models equipped with an internal chain tensioner, install the chain tensioner assembly by reversing the removal procedureApply Loctite 242 (blue) to the threads of the stud in the drop case housingTighten the shoulder nut to 6-7 N.m (4-5 ftlb2On models equipped with an internal chain tensioner, lift the chain tensioner off the ratchet block (90, Figure 8) and use locking pliers to hold it against the chaincaseSee Figure 103Install the spacer washer (63, Figure 8) on the driveshaft

4Place the chain around the upper and lower sprocketsInstall both sprockets and the chainThe drive pins of the lower sprocket should face out5Install the idler gears as follows: aLubricate bearings in the idler gears (29 and 31, Figure 8) with oil before installationbPull the lower sprocket and chain out slightly and slide the inner idler gear (31, Figure 8) onto the idler gear shaft while engaging the idler gear with the chaincInsert the alignment pin (30, Figure 8) in the hole of the inner idlerdAlign the hole in the outer idler (29, Figure 8) with the alignment pin already installed in the inner idlerInstall the outer idlerNOTE If new chain has been installed, it may be difficult to install the drives haft extension (54, Figure 8) in Step 6If necessary, remove the drive belt, driven pulley
