DRIVE SYSTEM
aRemove the driven pulley as described in this chapterbIncrease or reduce the thickness of shims (Figure 17) located on the shaft, as necessarycInstall the driven pulley6To check parallelism, make sure the alignment bar contacts the driven pulley sheave (A and B, Figure 16)7Measure the distance between the alignment bar and the rear edge of the drive pulley (D, Figure 16) and between the front of the pulley and the alignment bar (E, Figure 16)8The difference between the measurements at the front and rear of the drive pulley should be less than 1.6 mm (0.062 inLarger differences indicate the pulleys are not parallel9The procedure to correct parallelism differs for different modelsIf the parallelism is incorrect, refer to the followingaBefore changing the engine alignment, make sure that the mounts are tight and in good conditionbOn most models, add or remove shims located on the left rear engine mount to alter engine crankshaft alignmentcOn air-cooled Z440 models, loosen the nuts on the torque link (Figure 18)Move the nuts, as required, to relocate the engine to correct parallelism
