ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
1Open the hood and locate the relay2Disconnect the ground cable from the negative terminal of the battery3Label all wires to the starter relay to assist in assembly4Disconnect the wires from the starter relay5Unbolt and remove the relay6Install new relay, using the same attaching point7Clean all the electrical connectors with contact cleaner8Attach all the electrical connectors and tighten the nuts securely9Connect the ground cable to the negative terminal of the battery10Check operation of the starter and relay
CAUTION Do not remove the special tool too soon or the brushes will come out, which could damage the brushes or other parts
14Lower the housing and armature assembly into the end capWhen the end cap and housing are nearly together, remove the special tool used to hold the brushes in placeNOTE The housing should fit tightly between the front cover and the end capIf the starter does not fit tightly together, remove the end cap and repeat Steps 1214
