ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 5Unbolt and remove the starter pulley (Figure 11) from the flywheel6Remove the coolant pump drive pulley (Figure 12)7Remove the flywheel retaining nut and washer(s)CAUTION Protect the crankshaft from damage while using the puller in Step 8A protective cap can be made by welding a
small plate to the end ofa stockflywheel nut
8Attach the Arctco flywheel puller (part No0144-112) or equivalent as shown in Figure 13CAUTION Do not heat the flywheel or pound on the flywheel while attempting to remove itHeat can cause the flywheel to seize onto the crankshaftHitting the flywheel can damage the flywheel, crankshaft or crankshaft bearings
