2Turn the handlebars from side to sideThe shaft should pivot smoothly with no signs of binding, noise or other abnormal conditions3If the steering has excessive play, check the bolts for tightness as described in this chapter4If the steering is tight, binding or otherwise damaged, service the assembly as described in Chapter FifteenSteering Bolts Check Steering and ski alignment cannot be maintained if the fasteners are loose or missingCheck the steering assembly as described in Chapter FifteenCarburetor and Throttle Cable Inspection Check the throttle cable for proper routing, adjustment and operationIf the throttle sticks or you question the condition of the cable, detach components from the cable and check the condition furtherOn models with carburetors, the throttle opens as many as three throttle slides and moves the oil injection pump controlAjunction block (Figure 18) connects the single throttle cable to the other cablesIf the condition of cable is causing the throttle to stick, install new cable assemblyRefer to Carburetor Adjustment under Tune-up in this chapter for adjusting and synchronizing the throttle cableIf excessive play is felt at the carburetor, adjust the carburetor as described in the Carburetor Adjustment paragraphs in the Tune-up section
