LUBRICATION, MAINTENANCE AND TUNE-UP

1With the engine stopped, open and secure the hood2Remove the drive belt cover3Visually check the drive belt for cracking, fraying or unusual wear as described in Chapter ThirteenNOTE The drive belt should be removed once month and measuredRefer to Chapter Thirteen for minimum width and maximum circumference
2Check the tether switch (Figure 16) by pulling the cap from the switchThe engine should stop3Reattach the tether switch cap4Start the engine5Push the emergency stop switch (Figure 17) on the right handlebar to the OFF positionThe engine should stop6If either switch fails to work as described or if the engine fails to start and stop switch is suspected, test the switches as described in Chapter NineWARNING Do not ride the snowmobile unless both stop switches operate properlyThe ability to stop the engine is important for snowmobile safety
