TROUBLESHOOTING

3Connect an ohmmeter between the blackwhite and blackred (or green) wires to check the ignition charging coil4Compare the reading to the specification in Table 4If the reading is not within specifications, replace the charge coil assembly as described in Chapter Nine5Reconnect the three-prong connector6Close the hood
replace the trigger coil assembly as described in Chapter Nine5Reconnect the three-prong connector6Close the hood
Ignition trigger coil (coil outside flywheel)
On fuel-injected and three-cylinder models, separate ignition trigger coil is located just outside the flywheelThe wires from the trigger coil are greenwhite and brownModels with EFI are equipped with second sensor that is similarly located1Open the hood2Disconnect the black two-prong connector located between the CDI control unit and the ignition trigger coilWires to the CDI control unit may have one white wire and one black or one greenwhite and one brown wire3Connect an ohmmeter between the greenwhite and brown wires from the ignition trigger coil4Compare the reading to the specification in Table 5If the reading is not within specification, replace the trigger coil assembly as described in Chapter Nine5Reattach the two-prong connector6Close the hood
