TROUBLESHOOTING Ignition Testing with the Electro-Specialties ModellL Ignition Tester or Arctco Ignition Analyzer An ignition tester (Figure or 4) designed for this system is required for complete testing of the ignition systemThe Arctco Ignition Analyzer (part no0644-052) and the necessary attaching cable can purchased through Arctic Cat dealersInformation and instructions are included with the testerRefer to Table for ignition test specificationsIf you do not have access to this test instrument, have the tests performed by an Arctic Cat dealerPrior to testing the ignition system, note the following: aPerform the Troubleshooting Preparation procedures in this sectionbTests are similar for all models, but it is important to follow the instructions for the particular model that is being tested
cThe following tests must be made at cranking speedThis means that while it is not necessary to have the engine running, it is important to pull vigorously on the starter rope while checking the ignitiondEach test should be performed three times to reduce the chance for an erronous readingeThe ignition tester should be reset after each test by depressing the reset button on the front of the testerfHave the dealership recheck components to verify the unit is faulty before buying replacementgMake sure that the replacement part is correctUnits are very similar, but similar parts may not be interchangeableWARNING Do not touch any ignition component when cranking the engine for the following testsA poweiful electric shock may occur if you do so
