SUSPENSION 7Align the drive shaft in the front end assemblyProper alignment is obtained when the outside edge of both track drive sprockets is equidistant from the sides of the body tunnelHold the drive shaft in place to insure proper alignmentSlide the lock collar against the bearing and rotate the collar in the normal operational drive shaft rotationAssembly will now remain in placeUsing punch and hammer, secure the assembly in place by tightening the collar in the same direction as performed in step 8Tighten the lock collar set screwPosition the bearing retainer plates on the recoil side of the front end assembly and install the three (3) carriage boltsTip the machine right side up and tighten the bearing retainer plates to the front end assembly with the three locknutsNOTE: Locknuts to be installed on outside of front end assembly17Tip the machine on its PTO side and secure that side of the front axle with lock washer and boltNOTE: Thread the bolt halfway into the axle shaftDO NOT TIGHTEN! Secure the rear skid frame axle with lock washer and boltNOTE: Thread the bolt halfway into the axle shaftDO NOT TIGHTEN! Carefully tip the machine back on the recoil side and secure the rear axle with lock washer and boltNOTE: TIGHTEN BOLT SECUREL V! Position the machine right side up and tighten the remaining front and rear axle boltsCorrectly set the track tension (see Suspension [Track Tension], page 156)Align the track (see Suspension [Track Alignment]page 156)Set the suspension for related snow cond itions and operator weight (see Suspension [Suspension Adjustment]page 148)Position the drive chain around the small driven sprocket and the lower drive sprocketReplace the chain and lower drive sprocket on the splined shaft and secure in place with the large flat washer and bolt15With the rear idler wheels in fully-released position, slide the skid frame within the trackSecure one side of the front axle with lock washer and boltNOTE: Thread the bolt halfway into the axle shaftDO NOT TIGHTEN! 169
