SUSPENSION General (Skid Frame)
All Arctic Cat snowmobiles are built with skid frame and torsion spring suspension systemSkid frame principle: Because of the downward pressure of the skid frame on maximum track surface, the track rides the top of uneven terrain
Skid Frame DisassemblyPosition the skid frame so that the hi-fax slides are facing upwardExamine the hi-fax slides and replace if worn or damagedNOTE: If the rivet heads securing the hifax slide to the skid frame is flush with the surface of the hi-fax, replacement is necessaryTo remove the hi-fax from the skid frame, cut the rivets by placing sharp chisel between the hi-fax and the skid frameWith the cutting edge of the chisel against the rivet, give the end of the chisel solid blow with hammerContinue this procedure until all rivets and the hi-fax slides have been removedNOTE: Insure that rivet holes in skid frame are free from rivet piecesContinuing the disassembly of the skid frame, remove both the inner axles from the front and rear armsSkid Frame Removal
