ENGINE SERVICING (WANKEL KM914B) Timing the Ignition Spark Advance: Contact Breaker Gap: Pole Shoe Gap: Measuring Instruments: 10 12 before to? dead center 0.016 0.002 in(0.40.05 mm) 0.590 0.748 in(15 19 mm) feeler gauge 0.016 in(0.4 mm) The timing of the ignition system is to be done as follows:Adjust the breaker contact (b) to 0.016 (0.4 mm) at maximum lift of cam
0.002 inThere are two markings stamped in the magneto flywheel"0" coincides with the reference mark on the housing when the rotor is at top dead center
Rotate the magneto flywheel against the direction of turn until the "M" mark on the flywheel coincides with the reference mark on the housing (on housings without markings, use the center of the right bore as reference)Adjust the pole shoe gap (a) to 0.590 0.748 in.1 (15 19 mm) by rotati ng the armature base plate within its slotsAlways secure the armature base plate well after such an adjustmentIn to be its this position the breaker contacts must just begin openIf this is not the case the firing moment can corrected by rotating the ignition cam (5) within slots
