ENGINE SERVICING (WANKEL IM914B) Mainshaft Remove the circlip (4), shims (1) and retaining ring (2)Take the mainshaft (3) out of the side plate power driveside and remove the latter from the repair jigProtect the machined surfaces of the side plate against damageThe side plates can be refinished times (0.0157 in= 0.4 mm each)The side plates are to be marked according to each refinishing process, e.g 1st Refinishing II 2d Refinishing III 3d Refinishing The refinishing identification markings are to be brought onto the side plates, magneto-side and side plates, power drive-sideWhen mounting refinished side plates, check the length of the alignment dowels and when necessary shorten them from 0.59 to 0.55 in(15 to 14 mm)2Rotor

The rotor must be replaced when the teeth or support surface are worn or damagedReplace the pinion in the magneto-side and support ring in the power drive-side together with the rotorAfter decarbonizing the rotor (see Decarbonizing, page 55) check the side play of the apex seals in their grooves with feeler gauge and new apex sealsClean all parts thoroughly, check for wear (see "Inspecting the Side Plates, Rotor and Rotor Casing for Wear", page 51and replace as necessaryIt is advisable to install new gaskets when giving the engine general overhaul
