ENGINE SERVICING (TVVIN CYLINDER) Recoil Starter Disassembly
1Remove the recoil starter handle from the right side of the consoleRemove the outside retaining nut, lock washer and flat washer which secure the entire assembly in positionDisassemble the recoil starter from the engine by removing the three (3) bolts and lock washersLift out the internal components and pay special attention to the location and relative position of each component partNOTE: Observe the positioning of the small return springCarefully lift out the reel, making sure that the main recoil spring is not accidentally pulled outNOTE: The main spring should not be removed from the case unless it is necessary to clean or replace it3
If the recoil starter is so equipped, remove the waterproofing plateObserve the general condition of the nylon recoil ropeIf there are any signs of wear or deterioration, replace with new Arctic recoil ropeIf the main recoil spring must be removed, carefully lift the spring out, protecting against sudden uncoiling of the spring4
