SPEED SENSOR
The speedometer gives reading through speed sensorIt works with the water flow which turns magnetic paddle wheel that triggers an electronic pick-up that in turn sends speed sgnalto the speedometer through the MPEMThe paddle wheel is protected by the pick-up

TYPICAL Depth gauge

Ensure the silicone pad is ngood conditionThere must be no air between the bottom of the depth gauge and the bilgeOtherwise, the gauge will not work
To check if the speed sensor is operational, disconnect the speed sensor connector housing from inside bilge, Using an appropriate terminal remover (Snap-on TT600-41, remove the PURPlEYELLOW and BLACWORANGE wires from the tab houshg of the speed sensorNOTE: On models with wires, the remaining wire is for the water temperature sensorReconnect the PURPLEffELLOW and BLACK ORANGE wires in the receptacle housingConnect the positive probe of multimeter to speed sensor PURPLENELLOW wire and the negative probe to speed sensor BLACKORANGE wireSlowly rotate the paddle wheelEvery I18 turn, the observed voltage should fluctuate between 5.5 and 8.5 Vdc
