Subsection 03
Section 06 ENGINE MANAGEMENT (DI) (COMPONENT INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT)

WARNING
Never make spark test with spark plug removedFlammable vapors may be present in the bilge and ignited which could cause an explosion
Secondary Winding
Static Test NOTE: An ignition coil with good resistance measurement can still be faultyVoltage leak can occur at high voltage level which is not detectable with an ohmmeterA dynamic test is more effectiveRemove high tension lead from ignition coilUsing multimeter, check the resistance between the terminals and the coil postThe resistance should be between 6800 and 10200 at 20C (68F)If not within specification, replace the ignition coilOtherwise, perform the Dynamic Test belowMeasure resistance of the high tension leadsThey must be as followsOtherwise, replace the leadNOTE: It is not necessary to remove the spark plug capIMPORTANT: Always replace leads with genuine partsOtherwise, fuel injection system operation may be impairedMODEL SIDE MAG PTO MAG PTO VALUE OHM 5700 4300 5700 4900
