Section 05 ENGINE MANAGEMENT (DI) Subsection 03 (COMPONENT INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT)
Loosen adaptor lock nut then holding gauge with dial face directed toward you when you are in line with the crankshaft, screw adaptor in spark plug hole Slide gauge far enough into adaptor to obtain reading then finger tighten adaptor lock nut Since we are working with an indirect measurement, ensure that dial gauge face is positioned in the same direction as the connecting rod Rotate magneto flywheel clockwise until piston is at Top Dead Center Unlock outer ring of dial and turn it until "0" (zero) on dial aligns with pointer Lock outer ring in position6From this point, rotate magneto flywheel back 14 turn then rotate it clockwise to reach 7.87 mm (.310 in)NOTE: This specification is of the type "indirect measurement" relative to the piston movement since we are measuring at 45 angle through the spark plug hole7Scribe thin mark on PTO flywheel aligned with timing mark pointer toolNOTE: This mark becomes the reference when using the stroboscopic timing lightCAUTION: The static test cannot be used as TDC setting procedure, therefore, always check the TDC setting with stroboscopic timing light8Remove TDC gauge9Reinstall spark plug and connect wire
