Secondary Winding
Static Test NOTE: An ignition coil with good resistance measurement can still be faultyVoltage leak can occur at high voltage level which is not detectable with an ohmmeterA dynamic test is more effectiveRemove high tension lead from ignition coilUsing multimeter, check the resistance between the terminals and the coil postThe resistance should be between 6800 and 10200 at 20C (68F)If not within specification, replace the ignition coilOtherwise, perform the Dynamic Test belowMeasure resistance of the high tension leadsThey must be as followsOtherwise, replace the leadNOTE: It is not necessary to remove the spark plug capIMPORTANT: Always replace leads with genuine partsOtherwise, fuel injection system operation may be impairedMODEL RX DI SIDE MAG PTO MAG PTO VALUE OHM 5700 4300 5700 4900

3Turn power switch to 12 volts and you should observe spark jumping at predetermined gap of to mm (.276 to .311 in)If there is no spark, if it is weak or intermittent, the coil is defective and should be replaced
