Section 05 ENGINE MANAGEMENT (DI) Subsection 03 (COMPONENT INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT)
Voltage Test
Unplug magneto connectorCheck connector pins for corrosion or damageRemove and reinstall the safety lanyard to activate the MPEMCheck the voltage readings on the harness side as follows:
CONNECTION Pin with engine ground Pin with engine ground Pin with engine ground VOLTAGE small mV tolerance 12 5V

Remove CPS
If voltage tests good, the CPS is defective and needs replacementIf voltage does not test good, perform the following tests

1CPS inside magneto cover

Resistance Test
Check the continuity of the wiring harnessDisconnect the AMP plug connector number on the MPEMUsing multimeter, check continuity of circuits 6, and 14If wiring harness is good, it could be either the CPS or the MPEMTry new part one at timeWhen trying new MPEM, refer to MPEM replacement procedures elsewhere in this sectionOtherwise, repair the wiring harnessconnectors between AMP plug connector and the CPS
