Generating Coil Verification
717 Engine STATIC TEST Disconnect magneto wiring harness connectorInstall the 4-pin magneto harness adapter (PN 295 000 131)

Check resistance with multimeterRefer to the following table for values and wire colorsPART NAME Generating coil ADAPTER WIRE BLACK with REDBLACK RESISTANCE 4076
DYNAMIC TEST 1Connect spark plug cables to grounding device2Disconnect magneto wiring harness connector3Install the 4-pin magneto harness adapter (PN 295 000 131)4Connect positive test probe of the multimeter to the REDBLACK wire of the 4-pin magneto harness adapter5Connect negative test probe of the multimeter to BLACK wire of the 4-pin magneto harness adapter6Set multimeter to Vac scale7Crank engine and note resultThe obtained value should be between 18 and 25 Vac8If the generating coil is out of specification, replace itNOTE: If the generating coil tests good, disconnect the primary wires of the ignition coilCrank engine and check voltage at primary wiresIt should be at least 20 VdcIf there is insufficient or no voltage, either the MPEM or wiring harness is defective
