Section 08 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Subsection 02 (IGNITION SYSTEM)
Proceed as Follows to Adjust the Ignition Timing with the MPEM Programmer:
1Connect the communication cable to the MPEM programmer and the other end to the safety lanyard switch on the craft2Press the ONC button on programmer and enter your password3Press to choose Vehicle info in programmer4Press to choose Engine param5Press to choose Timing adjust6The programmer display number that is stored in the MPEM7Press to choose yes for modify then press Enter8Now punch in the number that corresponds to the degree you want for the ignition timing then press Enter9Press Menu to go back one level10Press to choose SaveQuit (even if item no8 is not visible on the display, it is active when you select it)11Press Enter to confirm yes you want to save modifications to the MPEM12You must see Operation successfulThis confirms that the new timing data has been stored in the MPEM13Unplug communication cable from safety lanyard switch on craft14Press Off to close the programmerAt this point, you can install the watercraft safety lanyard and start the engine to check the effect of the correction on the ignition timingIf further adjustment is required, repeat the procedureNOTE: The MPEM features permanent (nonvolatile) memory and keeps the ignition timing programmed even when the watercraft battery is disconnected787 RFI Engine To adjust ignition timing on this engine, Fixed Timing function must be activated firstThis function allows to perform ignition timing at any RPM due to its ignition which is speed and load independentNOTE: Fixed Timing function must be activated before starting engine08-02-12
