Section 11 SUSPENSION (DIRECT ACTION SUSPENSION)

1Loosen gear clamp
Remove bolt no10 and lock nut no11 from shock absorber upper support
Compress spring and remove cup no13Unload tool and remove spring from shock absorber
INSPECTION
Inspect condition of bootsIf there is any tear, renew boot(s)
1, Shock Absorber
Inspect shock absorber for wearExtend and compress the piston several times over its entire stroke; it should move smoothly and with uniform resistancePay attention to the following conditions that will denote defective shock absorber: skip or hang back when reversing stroke at mid travel Seizing or binding condition except at extreme end of either stroke Oil leakage gurgling noise, after completing one full compression and extension strokeRenew if any defects are present
