GENERAL
Causes of troubles are not necessarily related to starter but may be due to burnt fuse, faulty battery, startstop switch, safety lanyard switch, MPEM, solenoid, electrical cables or connectionsCheck these components before removing starterConsult also the starting system troubleshooting table on next page for general view of possible problems
Safety Lanyard Switch
The following continuity tests can be performed using an ohmmeter: Disconnect switch wiresSafety Lanyard Removed Connect test probes to switch BLACK and BLACKYELLOW wiresMeasure resistance, there should be no continuity (open circuit)Connect one test probe to the WHITEGRAY wire and the other test probe to the switch terminalMeasure resistance, it must be close to ohmConnect one test probe to the BLACK wire and the other test probe to the switch ringMeasure resistance, it must be close to ohmSafety Lanyard on Switch Connect test probes to switch BLACK and BLACKYELLOW wiresMeasure resistance, it must be close to ohm
