Section 06 LUBRICATION SYSTEM Sub-Section 03 (OIL INJECTION PUMP)
If not, run engine at idle speed while manually holding pump lever in fully open positionDo not activate throttle lever-
CAUTION

If watercraft is out of water, engine must be cooled using the flush kit
CHECKING OPERATION
On Watercraft
NOTE: Oil line supply must be full of oilSee bleeding procedure aboveStart engine and run at idle while holding the pump lever in fully open positionOil must advance into small oil linesNOTE: The engine should have rich mixture, idling irregularly and emitting smoke at exhaust outletIf not, remove pump assembly and check the pump gear (717 engines) or shaft (787 engine) for defects, replace as necessaryTest pump as describes below: NOTE: Through normal use, oil level must not drop in small tubesIf oil drops, verify check valve operationReplace as necessary
