Section 08 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Sub-Section 03 (CHARGING SYSTEM)
10.Reinstall batteryHook up battery cables observing correct polarity and coat terminals with dielectric greaseInstall vent lineNOTEcheck valve is installed on vent line to prevent water infiltration into batteryCAUTIONNegative battery terminal should always be disconnected FIRST and reconnected LASTWARNINGVent line must be free and openNOTEIt is recommended to verify the battery charge once monthIf necessary, fully charge battery;
State of chargeBecause the electrolyte is nearly pure water in completely discharged battery, it cannot accept current as well as electrolyteThis is the reason the battery will not accept current when the charging cycle first beginsAs the battery remains on the charger, the current from the charger causes the electrolytic acid content to rise which makes the electrolyte better conductor and then, the battery will accept higher charging rate Type of chargerBattery chargers vary in the amount of voltage and current that they can supplyTherefore, the time required for the battery to begin accepting measurable current will also vary
