GENERAL
Magneto
The purpose of the charging system is to keep the battery at full state of chargeThe magneto is the primary source of electrical energyIt transforms magnetic field into electric current (AC)The rectifierregulator is often the culprit of blown fuseTo check, simply disconnect the rectifierregulator from the circuitIf the fuse still burns, check for defective wireCAUTIONDo not use higher rated fuse as this cause severe damage-
TESTING PROCEDURE
NOTEFirst, ensure that battery is in good condition prior to performing the following tests
587 and 717 Engines The magneto has three-pole coilCapacity is 160 watts787 Engine The magneto has phase, "Y" wound stator on 18 polesCapacity is 180 watts
