Section 06 FUEL SYSTEM Sub-Section 03 (CARBURETORS)
GENERAL
The following illustration shows which part of the carburetor begins to function at different throttle plate openings
Twin Carburetor Models Only 16,17, Screw and Lock Washer
Remove screws and lock washers retaining carburetorsRemove carburetors
Single Carburetor Models Only
Remove bolts and lock washers from rotary valve cover then move carburetors and rotary valve on top of engineNOTEWhen removing rotary valve cover, pay attention that the rotary valve will stay in place, otherwise it must be timedRemove carburetor from intake manifold

CLEANING
The entire carburetor should be cleaned with general solvent and dried with compressed air before disassemblyCAUTIONBe careful at carburetor cleaning not to remove paintPaint removal will cause carburetor to rust very rapidlyRepaint if necessaryCarburetor body and jets should be cleaned in carburetor cleaner following manufacturer's instructionWARNINGSolvent with low flash point such as gasoline, naphtha, benzol, etc should not be used as they are flammable and explosiveCAUTIONHeavy duty carburetor cleaner may be harmful to the rubber parts, Oring, etcTherefore, it is recommended to remove those parts prior to cleaningInspect O-rings, diaphragms and gasketsF01F13A
