CLEANING
Discard all gaskets and O-ringsClean all metal components in solventClean water passages and make sure they are not cloggedRemove carbon deposits from cylinder exhaust port, cylinder head and piston domeClean piston ring grooves with groove cleaner tool, or piece of broken ringF01D2YA
INSPECTION
Visually inspect all parts for corrosion damageInspect piston for damageLight scratches can be sanded with fine sand paperInspect plane surfaces for warpageSmall deformation can be corrected by grinding surface with fine sand paperInstall sand paper on surface plate and rub part against oiled sand paperThe inspection of engine top end should include the following measurementsENGINE MEASUREMENT

The needles, thrust washers and the expansion sleeve remain in the connecting rod bore and may be used againTo remove rollers with the thrust washers from the connecting rod bore, push them together with the expansion sleeve into the bushing (P290 877 181) using any suitable 23 mm (.905 in) diameter pusherCAUTIONRecover rollers, make sure that 34 rollers are found for each piston-
