Section 05 FUEL SYSTEM Sub-section 03 (CARBURETORS)
Check fuel pump valves operation as followsConnect clean plastic tubing to the inlet nipple and allternately apply pressure and vacuum with the mouthThe inlet valve should release with pressure and hold under vacuum Repeat the same procedure at the outlet nippleThis time the outlet valve should hold with pressure and release under vacuum
28, Filter
To verify filter condition proceed as followsRemove pump cover, gasket, daphragrn then pump and body and gasketRemove filter from carburetor body then clean filter and blow carefully with compressed air (low pressure)Replace filter if damaged
WARNINGSome may be present in fuel fuel pumpBe careful not swallow fuel when under vacuum
Pump Diaphragm Leak Test
Using suitable pump gauge tester, perform the following test proceeding as follows :
- Install pump gauge tester (PN 295 000 083) on pulse
nipple- Pump tester until it reaches 28 kPa (4 PSI)Pump gauge
