A gap must be maintained between rotary valve and crankcaseTo measure this gap, use feeler gage inserted between rotary valve and upper half crankcase with rotary valve cover in place WITHOUT it's O-ringCheck as much surface as possibteFollow the same procedure for lower half crankcase
Rotary Valve Shaft Deflection
Deflection is measured with dial gaugeInstall rotary valve shaft in crankcase hallf, without its gearNOTEEnd bearing must be in crankcase half
