HULL and BODY Steering Cable InstallationMSX 140
1Insert the new cable through the rear thruhull fitting from the back of the watercraft following the routing you noted in removalNOTE: Verify that there are no sharp bends or kinks in the cable before proceeding to the next step2Slide the black thruhull nut onto the steering cable from inside the engine compartment3Apply marinegrade silicone to the thruhull fitting threads4Tighten the thruhull fitting nut to 52 in.lbs(6 Nm) 5Turn locking plate flat towards thruhull nut faceTighten nut to 28 ft.lbs(39 Nm) 6Lightly grease the upper steering linkage7Thread steering cable into adjusting nutLoosely fit adjusting nut bracket onto steering column base8Install steering cable rodend on top side of steering arm clampUsing new Nylok nut, torque nut to ft.lbs (11 Nm)9Follow steering cable alignment procedures on page 6.2710When finished, verify adjusting nut clamp fasteners are torqued to ft.lbs(11 Nm)
