HULL and BODY Steering Cable RemovalInstallation
WARNING: Failure to properly install the steering cable can result in loss of vehicle control possibly causing severe injury or death1Remove seat, front storage compartment (Genesis models), and front bulkhead panel (Genesis models)2Visually inspect the engine compartmentNote the current routing of the steering cable3On models with electric reverse, press and hold the bilge buttonLower the reverse gateFor models with manual reverse, manually lower the reverse gate4With the reverse gate lowered, loosen and remove the steering linkage from the steering nozzleDiscard the nylock nut5Depending on the model, one or two exhaust hoses may require removal to access the steering cable throughhull fitting nut
6Prior to removing the thruhull nut, loosen, but do not remove, the lockplate nutWith the lockplate loose, use an adjustablelocking wrench to remove the thruhull nutWARNING: Due to the location of the uppersteering linkage and bracket, the shroud assembly, handlebar assembly, and topdeck plug must be removed in order to properly remove and install the steering cable
