ENGINE DISASSEMBLYASSEMBLY Thermostat RemovalInstallation
NOTE: Coolant will flow out of the cylinder head into the bilge when the outlet rail elbow is removedTilt the bow down to prevent coolant from escaping outlet rail123456Remove the snap ring using snap ring pliersCarefully twist and pull the elbow out of the railInspect the ringsReplace if found worn or damagedRemove and replace thermostatInsert thermostat with bleed hole upReinstall the elbowReinstall the snap ringVerify the snap ring chamfer faces out when installing
Water Pump RemovalInstallation
NOTE: The engine must be removed to access the water pump housing1The water pump cover can be removed by fasteners that mount the cover to the front gear cover2Always replace the ring with new during reassembly3The impeller can be removed by holding the crankshaft stationary while turning the impeller nut counterclockwise4Tighten fasteners to specified torque outlined at beginning of chapter
