Final DrivePropulsion Pump AlignmentOverview Correct pump alignment is critical to driveline performance and durabilityDuring the manufacturing process of each watercraft, pump alignment is achieved by using an alignment laser fixture that simulates an engine and pump assembly attached to the hullShims are placed under each of the four engine mounts to obtain alignmentThe number of shims used are written next to each engine mount for future referenceProper pump alignment depends on several important requirementsThey are: Critical components such as engine straps, mounts, and the pump housing, etcare not worn or damagedS The pump housing and bearing carrier are secured to the hull tightly and evenlyS The driveshaft runout and end play are within service limitsS The hull is not damaged, cracked, or compromised structurallyPhysically checking pump alignment is only required when incorrect alignment is suspectFailures involving the driveshaft splines or threads, bearing carrier, worn impeller splines, or pump wear ring may be symptoms of incorrect pump alignmentS Always rule out obvious failures, damage or misadjustments, (listed above) prior to beginning pump alignment process
