1234Verify lanyard is REMOVED from startstop switchTurn laptop onRemove 8pin power harness from EMMConnect EMM power connector to 8pin harnessLocate EMM communication harness inside engine compartmentDisconnect harness pigtailsAttach communication adapter to pigtails5Connect communication cable to laptop serial port and cable adapterInsert lanyard in startstop switch6Access the PODIAG program on laptopNOTE: Removal is reverseAlways install lanyard last and remove first when discontinuing communications
Understanding the EMM communication cableThe EMM communication cable located inside the watercraft performs two important tasksFirst, the cable transfers and receives data from laptop when connectedSecond, when not connected to laptop, the cable completes the EMM powerin circuit located on PIN 7NOTE: If the EMM powerin circuit is not complete, the EMM will not power up when the startstop button is pressed and engine will never startWhen troubleshooting, verify the SINGLE WR PIN of the connector has continuity between the pin and every WR in the engine harnessVerify that PIN has continuity between the commplug and PIN located in the 40PIN EMM connector
