EngineCooling Engine Removal
S Disconnect the negative (), then positive (+) battery cables from the batteryRelieve fuel pressure by inserting small screwdriver into Schradert valveA small amount of fuel will flow from the valveEmpty fuel into suitable containerAlways wear proper clothing and eye protections when handling fuelFollow safety guidelines outlined in chapters one and twoThe fuel injectors can be simply removed from the cylinder heads as complete setThere is no need to disconnect the fuel lines unless injector is being replacedRemove all three fuel injectors and wrap the injectors in plastic bagSet bag in safe placeIf the injectors are disconnected from the fuel lines, mark each injector with the cylinder position from which it was installedRemove pump nozzles and stator assembly from pumpPull driveshaft away from engine(Reference Chapter Five Remove the water inlet and outlet hoses from the engine and exhaust pipe(s)(Label hoses for identification during assembly Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle bodyDisconnect the engine ground straps, and starter motor leadsDisconnect the wiring harness from the engine sensors and componentsLabel connections for reassemblyDisconnect the oil feed hose from the oil pumpPlug end with bolt and gear clampAlways secure the oil feed hose so that the open end is higher than the oil tank outlet nippleSections of the exhaust system will have to be removedThis includes the manifold, pipe, and the connecting hoses(Inspect condition of hoses when removedReplace any hose that is collapsed, damaged or worn Loosen the bearing carrier mounting fastenersThis will allow the couplers to move when the engine is hoisted up and out of the engine compartmentIf possible, pull the driveshaft rearwardPolaris recommends the use of an engine hoist for engine removalThe water outlet manifold can be used as lift pointThe hoist chains should be installed so the that the front of the engine is pulled up at greater angle than the rear
