Fuel Injection System Retest Option
Some Hard Codes have Retest andor associated Static Test optionIf these tests are available, Press for Static Test or Press to Retest is displayed at the bottom of the Code screenService Codes that have static test option are: the FFIt fuel injector and the ignition systemThe static test allows you to instruct the EMM to momentarily activate component that is causing the code so you can verify its operationIn the Retest mode, the computer constantly scans the EMM to see if the present Service Code is still being setYou can use Retest to diagnose and verify some repairsFor example; Service Code #43 will be set if an open connection occurs in the Coolant Temperature sensor circuitThe Code screen for Service Code #43 has the Retest featureIf you press R, the Retest screen will be displayedIf you wiggle the Coolant Temperature sensor connector and it momentarily improves contact, the computer will beep when the connection is goodThe computer will then display message that the code appears to be repairedIf the connection breaks, the computer will beep again and display the Retest screenWhen you exit the Retest feature, you will automatically return to the Code screenThe Class field will reflect the status of the Service Code; either Hard or RepairedWhen you are finished with Code screen, you have two options: press any key to see the next Code screen, or press the ESCAPE key to return to the Main MenuCODE43 CLASS: HARDOF EVENTS LAST EVENT AT 13 HRSOF CODES TOTAL ENGINE HRS 13 CODE DESCRIPTION: Coolant temperature sensor above expected rangeCODE ANALYSIS: If this is hard fault, STOP THE ENGINE to prevent serious engine damageCheck engine temperature, if overheating, troubleshoot cooling systemCheck thermostat, water pickup, inlet screen, and hosesIf engine is not overheating, check for damaged temperature sensor or sensor leads in wiring harnessSee Diagnostic Manual
