IMPORTANT: Prior to performing any adjustments to carburetors check the following: Verify that no water is present in the fuel systemCheck the water trap for presence of waterS Check for proper choke operationS Verify all fuel and vent lines are routed and secured properlyS Check the reed valves for damageS Check fuel pump diaphragms for damageS Verify all seal and gaskets are in good condition (no air leaks present)S Check engine compression (see engine section)S Verify proper fuel flow (i.efuel flow through shut off valve)S Synchronize carburetors; inspect throttle plates (butterfly) for damageFilter

FuelWater Separator(Carbureted Models)
The water trap should be checked daily andor whenever refueling1-2 (2.5-5 cm) of water depth in water trap can cause engine to run poorlyIf water trap fills quickly, excessive water may be present in fuel tankThe water trap includes filter to improve water separation, and colored float to indicate water levelEmpty trap if float appears to be off the bottomNOTE: The maximum travel of the float is to the base of the filter, or approximately one half the depth of the bowlVisually inspect the bowl for water collected at the bottom of the bowlSee illustrationIf water is present it will appear as clear liquid at the bottom of the bowlTurn off fuel valveWrap shop towel around the bowl and remove bowl by turning counterclockwiseTake care not to spill fuel while removingWipe up spills immediately with shop clothDispose of fuel properly and follow all gasoline handling precautions found on page 4.2Reinstall separator bowl taking care that the O-ring is undamaged and in the proper placeHand tighten securelyCheck carefully for fuel leaks around bowlWARNING
