CarburetionExhaust Mixture Screw Inspection and Adjustment
Carburetor mixture screws pre-adjusted at the factory and usually no adjustment is necessaryExceptions would be after cleaning or overhaul, or when minor adjustments are required for altitudeRefer to carburetor specifications at the beginning of this section and perform the following adjustments1Loosen large clamp at air intake silencer and remove2Secure choke in its closed position using tape or tie to prevent debris from entering carburetors or engine3Remove air intake cover, (6) screws, air intake screen, gasket, and (9) attaching boltsRemove air intake base from carburetors
NOTE: Use care to ensure lock washers are kept with

bolts, and cover the carburetors to prevent debris from entering
Do not force the needle into the needle seatIf over-tightened, needle damage will occur, resulting in erratic carburetor performanceIn the photo at right, needle (shown with limiter cap removed) is damaged and must be replacedRefer to carburetor specifications at the beginning of this section
