Armature Testing
1Using digital multitester, measure resistance between each of the segments ofthe commutatorThe reading should indicate .3 ohms or lessMeasure resistance between commutator and armature shaftReading should be infinite (OL)Inspect surface of commutator wear or discolorationReplace if excessively worn or damagedPlace armature in growlerWith growler on, position hacksaw blade lengthwise, 18" (.3 cm) above armature coil laminatesRotate armature 360 If the hacksaw blade is drawn toward the armature on any pOint, the armature is faulty and must be replaced0
