ELECTRICAL Ignition System Testing Ignition System Testing785 Fuji Engine
All ignition system connections and components are contained within the electrical box with exception of the stator coils, stator wiring harness, ignition coil high tension leads and spark plug capsVerify that all ignition circuit wire connections are clean and tightRefer to electrical box exploded view at the beginning of this section for critical ground connection locationsDisconnect component wires before testing resistanceRefer to individual wiring diagram for resistance specifications and wire color
Condition: No Spark
Disconnect the blackyellow wire from the CDI Module to the engine stop switchDoes it have spark? Yes- Not Disconnect the stator to CDI module wiresTest the resistance values of the stator coils and compare resuits to the individual wiring diagram or to the chart on page 7.4Are the resistance values within specs? Measure the resistance of the stop switchIn the run position (lanyard lock plate installed) the reading must be infiniteRepair or replace as necessaryDisconnect and check the secondary ignition coil resistanceRefer to the resistance values listed on the wiring diagram or on the chart on page 7.4If the coil resistance values are within specs, replace the CDI moduleNote: The primary windings of the ignition coils are connected in seriesIt is important to test each coil individually as one faulty winding may affect ignition on all three spark plugs
