Check for smooth throttle opening and closing in all handlebar positionsThrottle operation should be smooth and lever must return freely without bindingInspect cable for proper routing, kinks, or damage
Throttle Lever Free PlayInspect both ends of cable and replace if frayed, kinked or damagedCable Adjustment Adjustments are made by turning the lock nuts at the carburetor and then fine tuning at the throttle block adjuster bolt1Set idle speed to specificationsadjustment, page 2.18See idle speed

Measure throttle lever free play between lever block and lever as shown in III1

3To adjust, loosen lock nut on upper throttle cable adjusterTurn adjuster in (clockwise) to increase or out (counterclockwise) to decrease free play4Tighten lock nut securely when adjustment is complete5Start engine and turn handlebars to left and right through entire turning rangeIf engine RPM increases re-check cable condition, routing, and lever free play, and correct or adjust as necessary
