MAINTENANCETUNE UP Exhaust Valve InspectionCleaningAdjustment
Adjustment The correct position of the exhaust valves is 14 turn above seated1Ensure that each exhaust valve is fully closedA.Lift each exhaust valve up (one at time) about 18"316" and release Do not lift the valve above 316" or the bellows may restrict free movementS.Upon releasing the exhaust valve should make an audible "click" indicating contact of the valve against the seatNOTE: If you do not hear an audible "click", first check for adequate cable free-playLoosen the adjustment lock nuts and turn cable adjust cable length until an audible click is heardIf free-play is adequate but no click can be heard, clean the exhaust port and valve to remove any carbon depositsCAdjust cable out until freeplay is removed from cable, but an audible click can still be heard when repeating Step and SDTurn the adjuster out 14 turn from the point found in Step (raise the exhaust valve) and tighten the lock nut securelyExhaust Valve Operation To check the operation of the valves: 1Disconnect the multi-pin connector at the exhaust valve actuator box2Using 12 volt shop battery, probe the terminals as listed in the chart below to open and close the valvesDo not leave battery connected to the exhaust valve actuator wire terminalsContact the terminals momentarily to move the valves in the desired direction, and then disconnect the probes3Verify the exhaust valves open and close completely4Re-connect the multi-pin connector(Mounted on left rear of deck with grab handle bolts) EXHAUST VALVE ACTUATOR CONTROL BOX
