STEERINGIREVERSE SYSTEM
CABLE REPLACEMENT
STEERING CABLE
Remove the following:
- side panels (page 3-7)jet pump (page 14-7)front storage box (page 3-5)
Take care not to drop the nut and washer
JOINT PIVOT LOCK NUT WASHER
Remove the cable joint pivot lock nut and washerDisconnect the steering cable from the joint boltRemove the bolts and bracket holder from the steering cable bracketLoosen the cable setting nut and remove the lock collarsRemove the rubber from the steering cableRemove the cable bands and the steering cable out of the bodyMake sure each cable joint of the cable ends is screwed in at least (0.3 in)Route new steering cable properly and insert it into the thrust plate (page 1-19)Install new rubber to the steering cableInstall the lock collars onto the steering cable as shownSecure the cable with the setting nut and tighten it to the specified torqueTORQUE: 13 (1.3 kgf-m, 10 Ibf-ft) Apply locking agent to the bracket holder bolt threadsInstall the steering cable onto the cable bracket grooveInstall the bracket holder and tighten the bolts to the specified torqueTORQUE: 10 N-m (1.0 kgfm, Ibf-ft) Apply water resistant molybdenum disulfide grease to the cable joint pivot of the steering shaft sideConnect the steering cable the joint bolt and install the washer and joint pivot lock nutTighten the joint pivot lock nut the specified torqueTORQUE: 10 N-m (1.0 kgf-m, Ibf-ft) Install the jet pump (page 14-14)Adjust the steering alignment and lubricate the steering cable (page 4-25)Install the following: STEERING CABLE
