CYLINDER HEADIVALVE Remove the valve lifters and shimsBe careful not to damage the valve lifter boreShims may stick the inside of the valve lifterDo not allow the shims to fall into the crankcaseMark all valve lifters and shims to ensure correct reassembly in their original locationsThe valve lifter can be easily removed with valve lapping tool or magnetThe shims can be easily removed with tweezers or magnet

CAMSHAFT
Check the cam and journal surfaces of the camshaft for scoring, scratches or evidence of insufficient lubricationCheck the oil holes in the camshaft for clogsMeasure the camshaft runout using dial indicatorSERVICE LIMIT: 0.05 (0.002 in)
