TECHNICAL FEATURES
OFF-THROTTLE STEERING (OTS)
When the throttle is closed (i.e released), resulting in no thrust at the jet pump, the watercraft cannot be steeredWhen an obstruction in the water is encountered (e.g another watercraft, rocks), the proper evasive maneuver is continually engage the throttle and turn to avoid the hazardTo novice operator, the concept of actually accelerating when coming upon an obstruction in the water seems counterintuitiveMost watercraft riders, when confronted with hazard, will instinctively release the throttle in an attempt to avoid collisionHowever, as mentioned above, this will result in no thrust at the jet pump, and no ability to steer the craftThe OTS is designed provide some turning thrust when the rider lets go of the throttle when the handlebar is in fully steered position
OPERATION
Completely close the throttle while runningThe ECM detects the engine speed by the signal from CKP sensorIf the engine speed is above 3,000 rpm, OTS will be in stand-byThe throttle position sensor detects the completely closed positionWhen the handlebar is turned fully to the right or left, the limit switch, which is located below the steering shaft retainer the inside of the hull, is switched on, causing signal to be sent from the switch the ECMUnder these conditions, ECM moves the IACV slide valve from idle position specified positionThe fuel injector supplies suitable amount of fuel for increased amount of incoming air, resulting in increased engine speed which provides enough thrust for turning"he ECi""? sends signal to the combination meterThe tachometer segments flashes rapidly and alternately to notifv the rider that the OTS is operating.J
